BCFoods is excited to announce the acquisition from Darshan Foods of an onion and garlic dehydration facility located in Gujarat, India. This purchase expands BCFoods’ presence in India to include onion and garlic dehydration to complement its Kochin office from where it currently provides quality assurance services and logistical coordination for its vegetable and spice sourcing activities.

“A one stop, full range food ingredient company, with global production and local services is in high demand from the industry. This acquisition will help BCFoods extend the growth of our garlic and onion business worldwide and to further expand our model of providing global sourcing and local services” remarked Adam Lee, President of BCFoods.

Darshan Foods was established in 2005 and located in the town of Mahuva in Gujarat province, where most of the Indian-origin dehydrated onion and garlic is produced. Indian onion is known for its bright white color and mild flavor, which will be a welcome addition to BCFoods’ current dehydrated onion portfolio of products. The Indian-origin variety of onion is in high demand throughout Europe and Russia, as well as several other regions throughout the world.

Currently, BCFoods supplies over 10,000 MT of dehydrated onion to the world market annually. The expansion into India will help build a much stronger supply chain of diversified sources of onion and garlic as India accounts for approximately 25% of the world’s global dehydrated onion production.

BCFoods (India) will upgrade the facility with new equipment and standardized quality control systems to meet the exacting requirements of both governments and multi-national food companies globally. Through taking these steps and providing outstanding customer service, the company expects to continue providing the highest quality of dehydrated ingredients to customers worldwide. Onion reprocessing will begin in Q4 2020 with dehydration beginning at the start of the new season in January of 2021.

Customers worldwide can expect to see Indian origin onion and garlic as part of BCFoods’ full line of dried vegetables, onion, garlic, spices, and seasonings beginning in 2021.
