Originally grown in Central and South America, today sweet potatoes are found in dishes worldwide, particularly in cuisines throughout Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The starchy root vegetable comes in a number of colorful varieties, including the orange, yellow, and purple varieties that BCFoods carries. All colors offer a sweet flavor with earthy and nutty undertones. Sweet potatoes pair well with chili pepper, orange peel, and zucchini.
Sweet potatoes are considered a superfood for both humans and dogs1 due to the number of nutrients they contain. They contain a huge variety of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Including sweet potatoes in your diet may support eye, immune, heart, cellular, metabolic, and kidney health.2 Prebiotics such as sweet potatoes are growing in popularity for their role in digestive health and immune support.
Our dehydrated sweet potato works well in both sweet and savory applications, including chips, crackers, protein bars, curries, stews, instant meals, baked goods and mixes, gluten-free products, as well as cat and dog food and treats. Our orange and purple sweet potato powders can also be used as a natural, clean-label food color.

The sweet potato that BCFoods sources for dehydration are irregular pieces from IQF and Fresh packaging and processing, as well as overages of perfectly fine product. Without companies like BCFoods, this “irregular” and extra food would go to waste. Instead, it will be used to add nutrition and flavor to packaged food for humans and pets around the world.
- Dehydrated Sweet Potato is prepared from freshly harvested mature sweet potatoes which have been washed, trimmed, dried, milled, and finish processed.
- This product complies with current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packaging, and Holding Human Food (21 CFR 117), and with the Code of Hygiene Practice for Dehydrated Fruits and Vegetables (CAC/RCP-5-1971, Rev. 2-1985), General Principles of Food Hygiene (CAC/RCP1969, Rev 2-1985).
- Product shall be free of ferrous and non-ferrous metal >1.0mm, 300 series stainless steel >1.5mm. Practically free of extraneous vegetable matter and other foreign material based on processing capabilities.
- Product is Kosher.
Color (Orange): Light orange to dark orange.
Color (Purple): Purple.
Color (Yellow): Beige.
Storage:
- Recommended storage is in a cool dry area.
- Air-dried broccoli shelf life under normal conditions is 24 months.
