One of the top ten most common vegetables in the world, broccoli originated from wild mustard. Mediterranean farmers bred the mildly bitter cruciferous to be the thick, satisfyingly crunchy vegetable we know today. The grassy, slightly bitter flavor of broccoli pairs well with garlic and lemon peel.
Broccoli is exceptionally high in bone-supportive vitamin K and has as much immune-supporting vitamin C as an orange.1 It’s also rich in antioxidants, which benefit a healthy inflammation response.2 Prebiotics such as broccoli are growing in popularity as their relationship with probiotics is becoming more widely understood in digestive health and immune support.
Our wide variety of air-dried broccoli cuts can be added to a variety of applications, including soups, packaged rice and pasta meals, snacks, green powders, and vitamin supplements. Our dehydrated broccoli is also a nutritious addition to food for cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, and other pets.

The broccoli that BCFoods sources for dehydration are irregular pieces from IQF and Fresh packaging and processing, as well as overages of perfectly fine product. Without companies like BCFoods, this “irregular” and extra food would go to waste. Instead, it will be used to add nutrition and flavor to packaged food for humans and pets around the world.

Freeze-Dried Broccoli

- Air-Dried Broccoli is prepared from fresh, mature broccoli that has been washed, trimmed, cut, dried, and finished processed.
- Freeze-Dried Broccoli is produced from fresh mature broccoli that has been washed, cut, frozen, and freeze-dried.
- This product complies with current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Packaging, and Holding Human Food (21 CFR 117), and with the Code of Hygiene Practice for Dehydrated Fruits and Vegetables (CAC/RCP-5-1971, Rev. 2-1985), General Principles of Food Hygiene (CAC/RCP1969, Rev 2-1985).
- Product shall be free of ferrous and non-ferrous metal >1.0mm, 300 series stainless steel >1.5mm. Practically free of extraneous vegetable matter and other foreign material based on processing capabilities.
- Product is Kosher.
Color: Green.
Hydration (Air-Dried): Allow 15-20 minutes for dices in boiling water, and 1-2 hours in cold water. Typical re-hydration ratio is about 1:4.5 (dry: fresh).
Hydration (Freeze-Dried): Allow 1 minute in boiling water, 3 minutes with boiling water poured over the product. Typical re-hydration ratio is about 1:4.5 (dry: fresh).
Storage:
- Recommended storage is in a controlled atmosphere below 40°F.
- Air-dried broccoli shelf life under normal conditions is 24 months.
- Freeze-dried broccoli shelf life under normal conditions is 12 months.
